Early endocrine alterations reflect prolonged stress and relate to 1-year functional outcome in patients with severe brain injury

At 1 year after the injury, lower functioning level and lower capability of performing normal life activities were related to both the elevated stress hormones and the reduced gonadal and/or thyroid hormones measured at 3 months.
